Structure Twenty-Eight closes the book on 2023’s building updates
In the best traditions of leaving the most complicated until last, we finish the 2023 building updates today with Structure Twenty-Eight – one of the earlier buildings underlying Twelve.
Until this summer, we thought the situation with Structure Twelve’s predecessors was fairly straightforward. Then the discovery of wall lines, masonry and voids underneath raised it to a new level of complexity. Even for the Ness!
Nonetheless, we know that, in its day, Twenty-Eight was a beautiful building with much of its stonework reused for the construction of Twelve around 3100BC.
