If you’ve been digging through boxes, chests and suitcases around the house during lockdown and found any old pictures or postcards that show the landscape and archaeological sites around Stenness and Sandwick, we’d love to see them.
The Standing Stones of Stenness from the Brodgar road. Given the presence of the reconstructed “dolmen” the photograph is later than 1906.
These days the “guardians” of the stones are sheep, so it’s interesting to see a field full of horses! Not something you see often these days.
