Next year’s excavation at the Ness of Brodgar is among the attractions that have earned Orkney a place on the “15 best places to visit in the UK in 2023”.

The list, compiled by TimeOut, placed Orkney at number 12 and is one of only three Scottish locations featured.

The author wrote:

“On the west of Orkney’s Mainland, the Ness of Brodgar excavation site will be open to the public between July 5 and August 17, 2023. Visit then to get up close and personal with what is one of the world’s most fascinating archaeological excavations, and a 5,000-year-old Neolithic site.”
