New 3d model of Structure Ten’s decorated foundation deposit

This morning we’re premiering a new 3d model from Archaeology Institute UHI postgraduate student Gary Lloyd.

The model shows the large, elaborately decorated stone unearthed in Structure Ten in 2013.

It had been placed beneath the south-western buttress of the building and was one of a number of artefacts that seem to have formed part of a foundation deposit associated with the secondary reconstruction and remodelling of Structure Ten’s interior.

Other deposits included a human arm bone, large cattle leg bones, a carved stone ball and a bone from a sea eagle wing.
