Do you live in Orkney and interested in volunteering on the Meet-and-Greet team at the Ness of Brodgar? Or maybe you live further afield but like the idea?

The Meet-and-Greet team at the Ness is the first line of introduction for visitors to the excavation site.

We’re open this year from Wednesday, July 5, until Wednesday, August 16 – Mondays to Fridays inclusive, apart from Friday, July 28, because our open day is on Sunday, July 30, instead.

Meet-and-Greeters welcome visitors, help get cars tidily parked and help with fundraising. Orkney based members of the team generally work a morning from around 0930 to 1300, or afternoons, 1300 to 1630.

Meet-and-Greeters who come to Orkney specifically to join the team tend to work more concentrated hours during their time in the county. It’s up to you. We’ll train you up and rota you on with experienced team members.

If you’d like to come to Orkney to volunteer, please don’t get in touch until you sort out accommodation and transport for your stay – both are in short supply and we don’t want to disappoint.

If you’re interested, email anne.mitchell@uhi.ac.uk.
