Words and images – Ness renga on sale to benefit excavation funds

In 2018, a group gathered at the Ness to capture the memories of the season’s excavation in words.

They created a renga – a collaborative poetic form which originated in Japan almost a thousand years ago and which gave rise to the well-known haiku form.

The result was published in book form and featured images from the painting Sondage, created on site that year by Jeanne Bouza Rose.

An electronic version (PDF) of this book is now available to buy online, priced £5.

All proceeds go directly to the Ness of Brodgar excavation fund, helping ensure we get back on site in 2021.
