Wednesday wildlife – bonxie attack!

This week’s selection of photographs from dig director Nick Card.

Not a pleasant sight as this great skua (bonxie) swoops down to snatch a young mallard.

Bit of display by this male red breasted merganser.

Common tern with its catch.

Dunlin and ringed plover take flight.

Goldfinch.

Lone dunlin on Stenness shore.
