No sign of Ness interest waning as visitors flock to Kirkwall open day

On Saturday, the final day of the 2026 Orkney Archaeology Festival, we were delighted to welcome hundreds of visitors to our open day in Kirkwall. Not only did folk drop in but the majority stayed a while, taking the chance to chat to the Ness team and volunteers about all aspects of the project.

Our thanks to Orkney Archaeology Society for running the festival, now in its second year, and to everyone who took the time to stop by the King Street Halls to catch up on the ongoing post-excavation work.
