Nick and Mark in conversation – new venue for this month’s OAS event

For many years the impending arrival of the summer excavation season was heralded by an annual Orkney Archaeology Society (OAS) pre-dig lecture from Nick.

But with fieldwork at the Ness now over, that won’t be the case for 2025.

Instead, OAS is hosting an event in the Orkney Theatre, Kirkwall, on May 28 – A discussion between Nick Card and Mark Edmonds – about the Ness of Brodgar project. The evening will be filmed and be available on the OAS YouTube channel at some point afterwards.

Proceedings will begin, at 6.45pm, with the premiere of a film by Mark Jenkins, financed by OAS, on last summer’s major Ness exhibition in the Orkney Museum.
