News just in of two new books by our friend Mark Edmonds, Visiting Professor at the UHI Archaeology Institute and Research Coordinator at the Ness of Brodgar.

The first, After Orcadia, is a collaboration with Rebecca Marr, and accompanies an exhibition of the same name, showing at the Northlight Gallery in Stromness until Thursday, September 15. Mark’s book Orcadia – Land, Sea and Stone in Neolithic Orkney was published in October 2019.

The second book, Making a Handaxe, is an exploration of a single piece of stone – a Lower Palaeolithic biface – found in the gravels of the Upper Thames Valley.

Combining prose and poetry with photography and printmaking, details on both books can be found online at www.group6press.co.uk
