The final find of the season…before the cover-up began

The latest incised stone from Trench J. (Ole Thoenies)

Just when you think it’s all over, we have one last find to share with you – a delicately incised stone from Trench J.

We’ve been hard at work all day covering the site for the winter. The few remaining members of the excavation team were delighted to have their numbers bolstered by hardy volunteers. The extra help meant we had all the structures back under wraps by 5pm.

Our grateful thanks to all who turned up to help. It was very much appreciated.

We’ll finish today with a reminder that our auction for Chris Gee’s carved stone ball ends tomorrow, Friday.

The highest bid stands at £375.

To bid for this one-of-a-kind creation, email info@nessofbrodgar.co.uk. Please put “CSB auction” in the subject line and include your bid in the body of the email.
