Day Thirty-Five

Sunshine brings crowds flocking to final Open Day

Over 1,100 visitors flocked to the Ness today to view the site and special events laid on for the final Open Day of the season.

In glorious sunshine, the crowds viewed ancient music, ancient cooking techniques and ancient artefacts, as well as getting up close with the spectacular buildings and archaeology at the site.

Our sincerest thanks to all who contributed their time and amazing efforts to make it such a success, both on site and at the Stenness School – and to the many, many people who came through the gate.

Although digging continued on site, we’ve been too busy today to put together a full diary entry, so here are a few images to give you a taster of the event.

Normal service will resume tomorrow.

Until then…thank you all again.
