Dig Diary Extra – A passage between buildings?

The area between Structures Twelve, Twenty-Six and Thirty. Click for a larger version.

Work this week suggested there might be a passageway aligned with the original eastern entrance to Structure Twelve (an entrance that stayed in use throughout the life of the building and notable for its flanking standing stones).

This area is pictured above, with a key below to identify the surrounding buildings.

If it is a passageway – perhaps leading to Structure Thirty – or even if it turns out to be a significant area between two structures, it may emerge as a location replete with incised and pecked stone decoration, almost like the “art gallery” effect noticed in other areas of the site.
