The summer of 2008 saw two excavations on the Ness of Brodgar – ours and a month-long dig at the Ring of Brodgar.

The project at the stone circle saw the re-excavation and extension of trenches opened across its ditch in 1973 by Professor Colin Renfrew. Geophysical surveys were also undertaken to investigate the location of standing stones and other features within the monument.

At the time an online diary was maintained but this was lost after the host website was targeted by hackers in 2016. Fortunately, the UHI Archaeology Institute has gathered together all the original material (and more) and made it available again here.
