Congratulations Dr Julia Becher…
We’re delighted to send congratulations to Julia Becher, sorry, Dr Julia Becher, who has just successfully defended her PhD.
Julia has been looking at the lipids and other residues found in a sample of pottery sherds from the Ness, to establish what the vessels contained.
It’s the largest study of a single Neolithic site ever undertaken and, as she reported in an earlier blog, the results show a mix of contents, from dairy products to meat stews of various kinds.
Julia is shown here wearing a celebratory doctoral hat, made by her colleagues in the Department of Archaeology, University of York.
