September launch for ‘Landscapes Revealed’ book
The Ness of Brodgar features in a forthcoming book on the landscape of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site.
Landscapes Revealed: Remote Sensing Across the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site details a programme of geophysical and related survey across an area between Skara Brae and Maeshowe – an area covering over 280 hectares of Orkney’s West Mainland.
The book aims to document the changing character and development of this landscape over time and the survey results shed important new light on the character and extent of known prehistoric sites and ceremonial monuments.
Equally as important, they also document the afterlives of these and other places and their relation to the lived landscapes of the historic and more recent past.
Published by Oxbow, Landscapes Revealed: Remote Sensing Across the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, by Amanda Brend, Nick Card, Jane Downes, Mark Edmonds and James Moore, is due to be released in September 2020 but can be pre-ordered here.
