If you’ve been following our recent series on the Neolithic settlements around the Bay of Firth and want to know more, we’ve got some great news!
The 2016 book detailing the Cuween-Wideford Neolithic Landscape project, entitled The Development of Neolithic House Societies in Orkney: Investigations in the Bay of Firth, Mainland, Orkney (1994–2014) is available as a free PDF from Oxbow books.
The project identified and excavated four settlements (Stonehall, Smerquoy, Crossiecrown and Wideford Hill) in the vicinity of Wideford Hill, and three others further afield (Varmedale, Muckquoy and the Knowes of Trotty).
